Dealing with Gender-based violence at Universities : an example from the Faculty of Law of Charles University
Andreska, Zuzana ; Friedel, Tomáš (advisor) ; Ondřejková, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of addressing gender-based violence in the academic environment at the institutional level as an emerging agenda of university administration. Gender-based violence takes various forms, ranging from normalized verbal expressions based on gender stereotypes (psychological violence), gender-based discrimination (economic violence), sexual harassment to sexual coercion or rape (sexualized violence). As such, gender-based violence constitutes an obstacle to the fulfilment of the functions of universities and has an increased negative impact on access to education for marginalised groups of students. Using a case study method, this paper examines what solutions to gender-based violence have been adopted at the Faculty of Law of Charles University as of June 2022 and how the institutional solutions are reflected by those involved in their development. The theoretical contribution of the analysis of the process of institutional norm creation through the perspective of socio-legal studies and feminist critique of law lies in the identification of several types of resistances to fulfilling the obligation to create a safe learning and working environment by regulating gender-based violence as a type of undesirable social behaviour through internal regulations. These are...

Pouková, Veronika ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with understanding the motivation of volunteers involved in helping people on the run. The volunteers' motivation has been studied in the case of the Hlavák Initiative, which helps in the so-called Middle East agenda to people from the Middle East or African countries. This area has been viewed negatively by the state and the public in the Czech Republic since the start of the European migration crisis. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis contains basic backgrounds important for examining the motivation of volunteers in informal surroundings. The main focus is on volunteering and individual approaches for exploring the motivation for volunteering. This section also describes the context of the whole aid to persons on the run in the Czech environment. A research methodology is presented in the empirical part of the diploma thesis, followed by a section describing the research results. The results have been achieved by analysing semi-structured interviews conducted with eight volunteers of the Hlavák Initiative. The research of the diploma thesis took place just before the Hlavák Initiative formalised from the informal grouping into an association. Ernestová, Agnes ; Váchová, Alena (advisor) ; Kovaříková, Miroslava (referee)
The content of this thesis deals with emergency situations and behavior during their occurrence. The main objective was to investigate the awareness of the population of the Karlovy Vary region regarding behavior during emergency situations. This knowledge was verified by a questionnaire survey, which also tested the theoretical knowledge of the population in this field. Based on the results obtained from the questionnaire, a proposal for a possible two-hour seminar was created to supplement the missing knowledge and strengthen the existing one. The theoretical part is focused on the definition of an emergency event and its classification according to the method of occurrence. The issue of civilian protection is also addressed, including the evacuation of civilians, warning of the population, evacuation bags, and improvised means of protection. The reader will also learn what a crisis situation is and how to distinguish between its types. The basic components of the integrated rescue system and their tasks are listed here as well. The last chapter covers selected emergency events and recommendations on how to behave during them. The practical part is devoted to the research survey itself. Participation
Semerád, Vojtěch ; Pelc, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hořák, Jaromír (referee)
The submitted master thesis deals with the issue of regulation of participation in a criminal offence, i.e. criminal liability of persons who participated in a criminal offence, as a wide range of perspectives on the question of how to build a system of criminal liability of persons participating in a criminal offence can be observed across legal systems. Thus, the primary aim of this thesis was to analyse the current legal regulation of participation in the Czech Republic, which allowed to identify the strengths as well as the problematic points of the Czech regulation. Since an integral part of the analysis is a de lege ferenda perspective, the logical outcome is to compare the results of the analysis with the regulation of participation in France and to look for intersections and differences between the two regulations. The thesis is internally divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter provides a general introduction to the issue of criminal complicity, i.e. it includes the definition and differentiation of participation and other forms of criminal complicity, which has led to the creation of a working framework within which the issues of the following chapters will be analysed. The second chapter is devoted to two theoretical approaches to the regulation of participation, namely monistic and...
Contribution and cooperation of the Army of the Czech Republic during the Covid-19 pandemic in the work of general nurses
PAVLOVIČOVÁ, Adéla
The aim of this diploma thesis was to map the scope of cooperation between members of the AČR and general nurses during the Covid-19 pandemic. Another goal was to find out if the general nurses were satisfied with the mentioned cooperation, and also to map the experiences of the general nurses with the deployment of soldiers in hospital inpatient wards. The theoretical part deals with a detailed description of key terms that are still related to the research part. Above all, attention is paid here to the disease Covid-19, its clinical picture and the possibilities of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Key terms such as general nurse or pandemic are also explained. We also focus on the specifics of the work of general nurses in hospitals during the pandemic. Another of the main chapters focuses on the Army of the Czech Republic and the ways in which it fought against the mentioned infectious disease. It describes not only the help provided by its members in social and hospital facilities, but also help to the components of the integrated rescue system and other ways of its involvement. In the empirical part, a research investigation was carried out in a qualitative form using the in-depth interview method. The research group consisted of a total of fifteen general nurses who work in two different hospitals on inpatient wards. All of them collaborated with members of the ACR during the pandemic, which represents the basic building block of this entire research. Before the actual research was carried out, a pre-research was also carried out, which mainly served to verify the comprehensibility of the individual questions in the interview. After the consent of the informants, the interviews were recorded and subsequently transcribed in Microsoft Word by the author of the thesis. The obtained information was carefully read and, as needed, categorized and reduced into created categories and subcategories, which are schematically shown in the results chapter. The obtained results show that the members of the ACR cooperated both with general nurses and with other members of the nursing team. Most often, it was auxiliary work, such as helping with morning hygiene, anti-decubitus care, assistance with meals, etc. The general nurses explained what the soldiers were most beneficial to them, but also described the tasks that were problematic activities for the soldiers. General nurses also described in detail the experiences they gained from this collaboration, and stated both positive and negative opinions and comments about this collaboration. The work also includes recommended changes in case another wave of the Covid-19 pandemic follows. In the discussion chapter, the obtained results of the empirical part are then compared with professional literature and global database articles.
Mission, calling, service and their place in nursing
JEHLÍKOVÁ, Aneta
This diploma thesis is concerned with defining the terms of mission, calling, service, and searching for connections between them and nursing. In the theoretical part, we try to search for these terms and determine their meanings through historical and current literature. The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research. Semi structured interviews were conducted with six medical high school students of the practical nurse program, with five university students of the general nurse program, with general nurses that were divided into two groups: those who had finished the medical school before 2004, and those who were studying the medical high school as medical assistants. The last groups for interviews were members of the Sisters of Mercy congregation of St. Borromeo. The main aim of the thesis is to find out how terms of mission, calling, and service are imagined by nurses, how these terms manifest themselves in today's nursing, and how actual they are in nursing today. Answers to these research questions arise from experience of general nurses, as well as students, and reflect their views on the research terms of mission, calling, and service. Empirical inquiry reveals that general nurses and students have a good idea of what terms of mission, calling, and service are. Among descriptions of these terms, the answers of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo are the most differentiated. General nurses divert from the profession as defined by Florence Nightingale, and they still attribute nurses the same virtues as she was imagining. Today, in nursing, the researched terms mission, calling, and service appear at least in the meaning we elaborate on here and have an archaic impression. Instead of these terms, words such as empathy or compassion are being used in today's nursing, and these words are attributed to a flawless general nurse by students and general nurses. General nurses and students agree that the researched terms perish in today's nursing, yet they still perceive that a general nurse should consider her profession as a mission, and all but three informants consider their current or future profession as a mission.
